Four meditating maidens surround the base of the Taylor Park fountain. Originally installed in the late 1900's, the fountain has suffered wear and tear over the years, including the loss of pieces of the maidens. There are also areas of rust and discoloration. City officials are currently working on a restoration plan for the fountain.

SAVING THE LADIES: Efforts underway to cut project costs

ST.ALBANS CITY — St. Albans City officials are working with consultants to lower the projected cost of the repair and restoration of the Taylor Park fountain.

When presented to the St. Albans City Council earlier this year, the project had a price tag of nearly $500,000.
